STATE COMPETITIONS

Established in 1995, the California Golden State Choral Competition is an invitation-only event that brings the top high school choirs in the Northern California region together for friendly showcase and competition. Its stated mission is "To seek out and award choral excellence throughout the state of California"
The event starts off with performances adjudicated by highly regarded choral directors, and concludes with an awards ceremony attended by all choirs.

Shasta High Choir made its debut at the California Golden State Choral Competition in 2014, where the A Cappella Choir placed 5th in the large choir division. The following years saw continued growth and success: in 2015, they earned 4th place, and in 2016, 3rd place. That same year, the Madrigal Choir entered the competition in the small choir division and placed 5th.

In 2024, both choirs achieved their best results to date—A Cappella won 1st place in the large choir division, while Madrigals placed 2nd in the small choir division. The momentum continued into 2025, when the Madrigal Choir placed 1st overall.
